Dubai Summer Surprises
A perfect day out for the family and for those who love a good bargain! (Let’s face it, who doesn’t?) Dubai Summer Surprises is one of the highlights of the
Emirates summer calendar and features shopping and entertainment for the whole family. The event, launched in 1998, is held for a whole month in summer. (Note the dates for this summer have not yet been set, but this is likely to be in June.) The event has certainly put Dubai on the map as an international summer shopping destination, with thousands flocking to the city to bargain hunt. For kids (and tired husbands!) who may need a break from the shopping bonanza, stores have a programme of entertainment events to keep them busy.
Modhesh World Summer Camp
The heat of summer in Dubai may be too intense for little ones. When this happens, you need indoor family entertainment, so head to Modhesh World’s Summer Camp! The largest indoor entertainment venue in the region, the Summer Camp features a host of themed games, fun activities and allows supervised access to the wonderful world of friendly mascot Modhesh. The possibilities for the kids are nearly endless, with a Heritage land, Adventure Land, Fun Fair, Fantasy Land and Creativity Hall.
At the Adventure Land, you’re never too young to be a sporting star. Let out your inner champion on our all-sports field and learn tips for success from expert coaches. From laser battles to the Boot Camp Challenge, football field to roller skate zone, this is where you play to win. And that’s not all - when you want to take a break, you can stop by the pet farm. For your little ones you like to get creative, its time for them to roll up their sleeves and get dirty!
Roll some
pizza dough, mould some clay, throw some snow at the snow park then bury your best friend in the sand. There’s even a spa for little Princesses and Queens to get some well-deserved pampering. Make sure to check out the Modhesh World Main Theatre, or even become a performer themselves at the Modhesh Dance Academy. Open from mid-June to end August.
A tip if you are planning to travel to Dubai in mid-summer / July time - your trip may fall during the holy period of Ramadan, which may make certain tourist activities trickier during the day. On the plus side, resorts are generally much quieter during this period. We’d advise doing your research to check if this is the best time for you to plan your trip!
